		<description>Ö!2023 Calendar[Self-initiated Project][Bad Design-Good Design]
It is common for some designs/prints to become obsolete because they are out of date, and in China, the old calendars with new year paintings are one. Yet in New York City's Chinatown, I found that such calendars are still being sold everywhere. Looking at the printed materials that appeared in Chinatown, most of them were outdated. I began to think about the reasons behind this, and also revisited the charm of this "outdated design". Most of the people living in Chinatown are old people who immigrated to the U.S. when they were young, and their impressions of their hometown are vague and fragmented, a cross-section from decades ago. Taking 'fragments' as a concept, I redesigned this calendar set based on the old new year painting calendar.

Let the Wind Blow
[Self-initiated Project][Assigned theme: public &#38;amp; private]
Clotheslines once represented a universal urban phenomenon. With the push for city beautification and the rise of modern dry-cleaning services, they are gradually disappearing from daily life. Both their emergence and disappearance reveal social and cultural forces worth reflecting on.


The clothesline also embodies a tension between the private and the public. Intimate garments and domestic traces are displayed openly in shared urban space, exposing the negotiation between personal life and collective order. Their removal underlines this conflict between private expression and public regulation.


To amplify this overlooked detail, I created a series of simulated installations. In museums, glass covers often mark the boundary between ordinary objects and artworks. By enclosing these works under glass, I reframed the clothesline as an artifact—transforming the tension between private and public into a collective object for reflection.
晾衣绳曾经是城市里随处可见的日常景象。随着城市美化政策的实施，以及干洗服务的普及，它逐渐从我们的生活中消失。这种出现与消失，本身就是值得被关注的社会现象。晾衣绳同时连接着私人和公共。贴身衣物和家庭的痕迹被挂在公共空间里，既是个人生活的延伸，也是公共秩序的一部分。它的消失，正说明了私人表达与公共规范之间的矛盾。为了放大这一细节，我制作了一系列模拟装置。在美术馆里，玻璃罩常常让普通物品获得“艺术品”的身份。我把晾衣绳放进玻璃罩中，让这种私人与公共之间的张力，以另一种方式被看见和思考。

	Wind H Art Center, established in 2019, is a Beijing-based art institution. It combines avant-garde interior design with a bold selection of artists and expresses the traditional eastern aesthetic in a contemporary way.

The name's literal translation is "sky in the mountain." According to records, the mountain it indicated was built thousands of years ago. The ancients used this mountain as a reference point to calculate the coordinates of the sky and land. Therefore, that mountain is the origin.
 
I took mountain's origin and its smallest unit, stone, as the starting point.&#38;nbsp; A visit to this unusually structured museum necessitates insight and some wonderful works frequently necessitate going around to the innermost part to see them. The overlap form is applied here to fit its interior design.山中天美术馆成立于2019年，是一家坐落于北京的艺术机构。它将前卫的室内设计与大胆的艺术家选择相结合，以当代方式诠释了传统东方美学。


馆名直译为“山中之天（天中山）”。在调研过程中我发现，天中山建于数千年前，古人用此山为基准来测算天地的坐标，因此，这座山也被视为起源。


我以山的“起源”，最小的单位——石头——作为设计出发点，延伸出主要视觉符号。参观这座结构独特的美术馆需要观众充分地洞察，其中一些精彩的作品往往要绕行到最深处才能看到。由此，我将“叠加”的形式运用在设计中，呼应它内部空间的特点。
为视觉考虑，项目中所出现的展览分别来自（1）Pace HK - 何处惹尘埃；（2）山中天艺术中心 - 千重影。

Designed the exhibition visuals for Sining Zhu’s 2025 solo exhibition The Things You Own End Up Owning You at Three Shadows Photography Art Centre. The artist collected everyday furniture and objects that carry a sense of belonging or restriction, transforming them into soft sculptures that reconstruct a “rented apartment” space—at once familiar and strange. She invited visitors to move and rearrange the installations, exploring the shifting relationship between people and objects, between presence and possession.


In response to this daily yet intricate state, I experimented with stacking and recombining typography, allowing fragmented elements to form both a statement and a question: “The things you own end up owning you.” During our discussions, the artist mentioned the idea of “negative space,” which further inspired my approach—suggesting that the dynamics of owning and being owned can manifest not only in space and psychology, but also through language and graphic expression.















为朱思凝2025年在三影堂的展览《你拥有的东西最终拥有你》（The Things You Own End Up Owning You）设计的展览视觉。
艺术家搜集来各种承载着归属感或限制感的物品和家具，转化成软雕塑，营造出既熟悉又陌生的“出租屋”空间。她邀请观众移动和重组房间内的装置，以此探索人与物、与空间之间“拥有与被拥有”的关系。


我试图用字体的堆叠、重组来回应这种状态，用琐碎日常的元素拼凑成一个陈述，也是一个疑问：“The things you own end up owning you.”&#38;nbsp; 在讨论过程中，艺术家提到的“负空间”概念也启发了我：这种互相拥有的关系不仅体现在空间和心理层面，也可以通过文字与图形被呈现。

		<description>Zine: Spring Issue[Self-initiated Project]

Grew up by a river, but dare not approach it due to my fear of water. The river has only become a symbol of homesickness when I'm far away from home. By chance, I now live by water again. I attempted to connect my three stages of life with water's three forms: spring, river, and ocean. We are never the dominators of water, but only recorders.

[Self-initiated Project][for buy nothing day]
When browsing fashion e-commerce platforms, I was amazed to find that they created a series of impulse buying traps by directly linking the level of happiness in life to expensive items. Merchants have created a pseudo environment by preaching that " owning this item makes your life better".&#38;nbsp;I extracted text directly from various e-commerce platforms and incorporated it into a collection of pseudo posters.

	4'33" Book Design
	












The whole book is created based on American experimental composer John Cage' three-movement composition 4'33". It is commonly perceived as "four minutes thirty-thre seconds of silence." However, the critical point is the sounds of the environment during the four minutes thirty-three seconds of silence. "I have nothing to say and I am saying it and that is poetry," he said. That may explain his creative concept. I took the 46 letters in the sentence, arrange them in different shapes and orders.
 
That's what I feel in 4'33", what I feel in silence. Nothing is everything; one sentence could be various and everything.
